Recent Instagram Pics

♥ I tried experimenting with silver eyeliner, using it as a second 'flick'. I think white would maybe work better ... Also a weirdo came and tried to kiss me while I was taking photos.

♥ My attempt at beetroot pizza with feta and cavelo nero cabbage. It tasted incredible! Even if it was a bit like having jam on a pizza.

♥ Cleaning my marimo. I freshen his water once a week and give him a gentle squeeze evenly all over to get rid of any dirt particles.

♥ And here's a recent (and very colourful) drawing of mine that I uploaded to instagram. You can see a proper picture of it here.

♥ Doing some research drawing for a new piece (an underwater one) with an amaretto coffee. Yum.

♥ Another make-up experiment: green on the top lid with pink glitter underneath. I don't think it really worked, but it was fun to do! Also I'm loving this lipstick which is Nyx's matte lipstick in the colour 'butter'. It's not really a genuine 'matte' effect, but it is a lovely greyish taupe colour.

Recent Instagram Pictures

I thought I'd share some snapshots of  life than I've taken lately. I also included some snippets of recent drawings I've been doing too so if you're into that sort of thing, you can keep up with what I do on my art blog or my tumblr if you like. Also I'm on instagram as @alisonlisahorn

1. Having dolmades (very tasty stuffed vine leaves) and a pot of yogi yogi chai outside Tchai-Ovna on a rainy day. 2. On the same day, we stopped by Nardini's for coffee and what turned out to be the biggest chocolate ice-cream cone I think I've ever seen.

3. I've been working on new designs for Too Fast clothing lately. I'll also soon be getting the ribcage high heels I designed for them! They have a heel shaped like a spine and you can them here, along with a pair with my eye logo design on them. Neat. This one's for the back of a hoodie. 4. Been listening to a lot of Poisoned Electrick Head again lately.

5. Having coffees at Fornette's. An awesome cafe here in a slightly run-down shopping centre (which makes it seems like some kind of magical secret). 6. A close-up of one of my illustrations for this recent article on the Something Awful website.

7. Trying out different teas. The liquorice and chai tea bags are winners, although the Camomile & Maple doesn't really taste of anything unfortunately. 8. I came home on Saturday with popcorn and a bunch of movies for a film night. We ended up watching Cronos (and eating all the popcorn).

Follow Me With Bloglovin

So it seems that, as of Monday, google reader will no longer be available. If you want to keep following this blog and are a google reader user, I would suggest following via Bloglovin. Recently, I've been using Bloglovin as a way of keeping up with the blogs that I follow and I've found it very reliable so far.

Anyway, here's a direct link to the page for following this blog. For some reason, it's registered as alisonlisahorn.blogspot.de rather than any other country's extension, but I'm half German anyway so I think it's well cool. Yay!

And now, a pastel-coloured photo montage for no reason other than to make this post a bit prettier:

Reds: ♥ felt mermaid doll I'm working on at the moment ♥ Tried making some velvet cake with cream cheese icing ♥ Yellows: ♥ Spicy hot chocolate on a stick ♥ Black and white washi tape I ordered from modes4u.com ♥ Blues: ♥ Fancy nails with silver rings ♥ Galaxy style cake bites ♥ Pinks: ♥ Lavender flavoured cupcakes I made for my mum's birthday ♥ Awesome sheep skull my cousin gave to me

Chocolate Pie Pops

I had a go at copying the recipe for pie pops from the amazing Call Me Cupcake! blog. The pastry recipe was definitely a winner: I've tried it since with bought pastry and it just doesn't compare to the first time I did it, following the recipe. I even bought a cookie cutter especially just to make them, although I think I filled them too much as you can see from the chocolate oozing out. They were great fun to do though and don't take too much preparation as long as you have enough time to leave the pastry before making the pies up. What do you think?

Pies on a stick. What could be better?

Silvery-Gold Eyes

For this I used a pale metallic silvery-gold eyeshadow with winged eyeliner, cutting my crease with a little bit of MAC carbon eyeshadow. Simple, but nice and neat.

The birdskull earring is from Crimson Rich Desire and the lisptick I used is Maybelline Super Stay 24 Colour in Cherry Pie.

Recent Instagram Photos

I thought I might share some recent instagram photos this time with some little numbered description below. I  tried to filter out most of the photos of food I've been taking lately so it's a bit less... um... 'foody'? Incidently, I'm @xenocblood on instagram if you want to follow me and see all my uninteresting photos of make-up, cups of coffee and general goth housewife things.

1. Trying out some red/purple eyebrows for a change. 2. The first dinner I made in the flat and it wasn't a disaster! Jacket sweet potato with tuna, onion and chili. I'm never having normal, non-sweet potato jacket potatoes again. 3. Loving the Christmas coffee menu in Costa this year. My favourite is a honeycomb hot chocolate and this picture is of a black forest gateaux hot chocolate. Not my 'cup of tea', but it looks awesome. 4. 'Made' some peanut butter by flinging some roasted peanuts in the food processor. Got some monkey nuts now to crack and try making some more with. 5. The dark chocolate peanut butter balls I made with the pb. Not great looking and tasted pretty bitter compared to normal, but I kinda liked it! 6. Re-dyed my hair for my first time in the flat the other day. Happily the bath didn't get dyed purple as well so that's a relief.

Pink, Blue & Red

Now for some recent instagram photos, handily grouped according to colour! Search for @ariioth if you want to follow me.

Pink Hearts

1. Finally found shoes for my wedding. Sparkly black peeptoes with bows. £9 in the New Look sale. 2. I made a heart brooch for my aunt. 3 & 4. I sent of one of my brooches off to the gorgeous Aoife. It's a heart shaped lollipop brooch and comes in a coffin shaped box. You can get it here

Homecoming Blue

1. Our first sit-down meal at a table in the flat. Homemade soup and sandwiches. 2. My sister and brother-in-law got us this absolutely amazing heart-shaped venetian mirror as an engagement present. 3. The cat necklace I made for my sister's birthday. I'm making a load more now to sell. 4. I'm reading Stephen Donaldson's Gap Cycle for the second time. It's one of my favourite series of books. The only problem is my fiance's starting reading them too so he's bugging me to finish book 3 so he can read it! (I'm a ridiculously slow reader...)

Vanity Red

1. Still enjoying the novelty of having red hair. It faded to a carroty ginger really quickly, but I'm still liking it. 2. Haven't been using much colour in my eyeshadow since having my hair done. Might stick to black and white and monochromatics for a while. 3. I rediscovered this green top from River Ireland which now seems to be a dress. It makes me look like a piece of military netting, but that's ok. 4. Curls!
