Skinnydip Shell Bag & Candy Rain Jumper
Louche Vona Dress
I had a little trying-on session the other day at the Barnardos charity shop down the road and ended up buying this dress for five pounds. The label said it was by 'Louche' and I already thought it was a bargain before I got home and looked it up to see that the price for it online was £79! (Or £30, second hand from ebay) Not bad! It even fits really well too which is something I find difficult with tailored dresses.
I wore it to a joint birthday dinner for my Dad and nephew with some little heels (not something I wear very often). I got my Dad a book on Blackadder and my nephew a big book on stones and fossils. Charity shops rule, man. Seriously.
Discovering New Places
On Sunday we went to my sister's house to celebrate my mum's birthday. We had some hours to kill after church through so we decided to make a day of it in town.
We sheltered from the rain for a while in a cafe and had pistachio hot chocolates. Pistachio hot chocolates are one of my favourite treats at the moment.
And we discovered a new place (ie. a place that's been there for ages but we never bothered to go to until now)! The savoury food looked flippin' amazing even though we didn't get a chance to try it and the sweets were to die for.
The amazing snickers brownie we shared. Also the coffee was Dear Green coffee which is one of the nicest coffees in the world in my humble and totally plebian opinion.
And I decided to wear my new exposure shrug from Cyberdog. It's a bit of an early birthday present. I absolutely love it!
Glittery Jeans & New Polyvore Account
Although I have been in severe need of some more pairs of trousers for a while now, I've always had a lot of problems with finding ones that fit and feel comfortable so I've been putting off the search as long as I could.
I'm a funny shape at the best of times: I have long, skinny feet, wee short legs, a super long body and neck and extraordinarily wide hips for the rest of my size. It's these short legs and wide hips that make it almost impossible to get nice trousers so you can imagine how happy I was to find two new pairs in h&m the other day. They're a bit loose at the waist so I'll maybe need that fixed, but, for now, it gives me an excuse to wear all these nice belts I have floating about.
I got one pair of black jeans covered with flecks of purple glitter (shown below) and another black pair with silver studs down the outside seams. Cool. And now I now what size I am in h&m jeans it means I know what to look for in the future.

As you can see, I had a go at making the outfit into a polyvore set (well... why not!). The clothes are just an approximation, but I managed to find the exact nail varnishes and lipstick I was wearing. My old polyvore account was getting kind of stagnant and full so I made a new one. This time I'm going to at least try to fill it with outfits I might actually wear!
Illamasqua Lipstick in Kontrol
Last week, I was very excited to have a parcel from Illamasqua waiting from me when I got home from Edinburgh. I had decided to make use of their special offer on lipstick and lipgloss if you order them as a pair. The lipstick I chose was kontrol, an awesome purple lipstick that's tones in with my hair, and the lipgloss I went for was violate which I'll be going into detail on in another post.
My family came over for my birthday the other night so I decided to try out kontrol, knowing that family are the only people you can really rely on to be brutally honest and tell you if you look like a freak because you're too old to be wearing purple lipstick. Anyway, at the end of it, I think I passed the sister test and the even the brother-in-law test and my little 3 year old niece seemed to love it!
I did my eyes in blue and green and decided to go full-on dolly-mode with pigtails and my new lace collar from New Look (£2.50 in the sale, reduced to £1.25 since it had a fault in it I had to sew. I'm turning into a bargain hunter like my dad). Hope you like the look!

Permanent Purple Hair
I've been having problems lately with the colour of my hair fading too quickly. I normally use semi-permanent hair dye such as Crazy Color or Fudge paintboxes since wild, unnatural hair colours are only widely available (as far as I used to be aware anyway) as semi-permanent for some reason. When I was at the hairdressers last time, however, they tried me out with a permanent purple (and a permanent black, as usual) to see how that goes. I'm really excited to see how long it lasts this time compared to the semi-permanent stuff. The ends have faded slightly already because that's where my old green colour is still growing out, but the top of my head still looks great! I plan to keep it topped up now and then with fudge paintboxes to keep it vibrant but at least I have a strong permanent base to begin with.
Here are the photos the hairdresser took. I go to a training salon called UConcept Hairdressing Academy. You can see their facebook page here.
Here you can see me wearing false eyelashes (which I never do!) and my snake necklace. I also got a new attachment for my labret which I'm pretty pleased with.
... and I found these earrings in Claire's which I love. They're all spiky and thorny and cool. I can only wear one since the hole in my right ear closed up after the wedding, but I think that looks ok.

Wearing purple nail varnish to go with my hair
And it was a sunny day too so I got my fishnets out. (Please ignore my husband's feet butting in on the photo)

Valentines Day
Last year for valentines day I made my husband (then just my boyfriend) a heart shaped box full of Earl Grey tea cupcakes. This year, I managed to find a heart-shaped cake tin just in time to make a cake for our first valentines day together as a married couple. It was a chocolate fudge cake and, yes, our initials are indeed 'T' and 'A' which is kind of awesome!
I made some heart bunting too because I had about ten seconds free time and thought it would be cute (I think this is what having pinterest does to you).
It seemed pointless to try to go to a restaurant for dinner since everywhere would most likely be fully booked. Instead, we walked to our usual coffee shop in town which was happily nice and empty. I even decided to dress up a little (I don't need much of an excuse really). I'm wearing the cross pendant my friend Ruth made for us as a wedding present. My husband has a matching one too.
We got a free valentines cake slice thingy with little hearts on it from the cafe. They were handing them out all day to customers. How cute it that?
